Ragpicker’s son achievement
We all live in a competitive world. Aspiring minds are always taking giant strides in a bid to touch the pinnacle of success and then there is the 20-year-old Asharam Choudhary from Madhya Pradesh who hogged the limelight for his impeccable achievement.
He faced so many struggles in his life yet he was focused on studies. Today he successfully cracked the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS Exam in his first attempt to get selected to AIIMS Jodhpur. Hailing from Vijayaganj Mandi village of Dewas district, Asharam Choudhary made his parents proud by getting selected to a recognized and prestigious medical college.
His father is a junk seller and they don’t own a house but after his son came through with flying colors, the family believes that things will soon change. Son’s father Ranjit might be poor by collecting and selling junk but he feels rich as he believes that the wealth is their son.
“I make a living by collecting and selling junk. We do not even have a house, but our wealth is my son, who has done us proud by getting selected to a prestigious medical college,” he said when India today asked about his struggles.
He then added-
“I was very young when my father would just make Rs 20- 30. There was a quack doctor in our village, to whom everybody would go in case of any minor ailment. He was very sought after and led a very fulfilling life. It was then that I thought that I too wanted to be a doctor, albeit a properly qualified one”.
Choudhary completed his schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV). “When I completed my 10th standard exams, I appeared for the entrance exam of the Dakshana foundation. I was among the 75 students chosen from across the country.”
Asharam Choudhary had also cracked the other recognized National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, credits his parents and teachers for his epic success. Asharam wants to be a good doctor and has also expressed his interest to serve the country through and through. “Without them, nothing would have been possible. I want to be a good doctor and serve the country,” Asharam said.
He also revealed how he worked hard day and night to touch the pinnacle of success. “I would study full day, in fact when the exams were nearing, I would sleep just for 2-3 hours.”
He shared his life with India today and logical Indian.
“Before the exam, we had a break of a month for self-preparation. Everybody left for their homes during that time. Even I did. Others could study, but we have no electricity at home so I would use a kerosene lamp to study or I used to go to my friend’s place.”
This boy believes E for efforts not excuses.
We as a young generation should grab every opportunity instead of looking what we can’t do,one should look for “what one can do".
Lockdown is one of such opportunity to do something creative and use this time.
